From video dating to video friendship

Instamour started out as a video dating app in 2013. It evolved into a video friendship app in 2017, and during the 2020 pandemic the founders decided to fully pivot into video friendship and launch a brand-new app: Spinnr. Instamour is no longer available—this site is a tribute to what it was.

First on the market

Instamour was the first video dating app on the market. It was one of the first video apps, period - launching just weeks after popular app Vine. In 2014 it graduated from the StartFast Venture Accelerator in New York and went on to acquire roughly 500,000 users.

Discovering people through interests

At Instamour, the best connections started from what you had in common. Whether you were into yoga, coffee, dogs, movies, travel, or writing, the app made it easier to find people who shared those interests—and to show up as yourself with video.

Ahead of its time

Members loved the experience. The app’s low-pressure vibe helped people meet based on interests and hobbies instead of jumping straight to dinner dates and wasting time on the lack of chemistry that plagued other dating apps. Video put personality first so you could see and hear someone before you matched.

Inclusive and respectful

The app supported a wide range of genders and identities so everyone had a place to connect. A zero-tolerance policy for harassment kept the community safe and welcoming.

Instamour is no longer available to download. The team behind it now has Spinnr—get the app.
